Signature Vin is a project through which wine labels are custom designed for the annual celebratory event welcoming new students to the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Master of Design programs. The 2012 label designs are typographic expressions of the distinctive taste profiles and physical characteristics of Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. The bold geometry and intentional gestalt of the typographic forms created for the Pinot Noir reflect its characteristic depth and the susceptibility of its grape. By contrast, the nervy vibrant quality of the Sauvignon Blanc is represented by dualistic letterforms: compressed and open, elongated and round.
